U:1 Artist Collective presents ‘Party for your eyes’, a group exhibition of new works created specifically for the shop-style setting of the Boardwalk Arts gallery. Combining a diverse selection of working methods and approaches, the amalgamated structure of an artist collective provides the basis for this exhibition of kinetic, collaborative, site-specific and experimental works.
Drawing inspiration from the infinite visual possibilities of the kaleidoscope, ‘Party for your eyes’ controls the viewpoint of the observer by only allowing the works to be seen through the gallery windows. Inside, however, multiple objects and images are layered together to create unexpected combinations. Echoing the constantly evolving nature of the collective itself, this exhibitions aims to consider whether diverse practices can be combined visually to open new avenues of exploration.
Based in Plymouth, U:1 Artist Collective draws together emerging creative practitioners from all areas of the visual arts, in order to create a productive and challenging social network. A regular program of exhibiting opportunities, within the city and beyond, allows the group members to experiment with fresh approaches to presenting and questioning the nature of their chosen mediums.
Featuring works by Charlotte Patton, Eve Woodbridge, Lee McDonald, Hannah Jump, Amber Donovan, Helen Manley, Sandy Wager, Alexandra Kovacs, Andrew Knights, Clare L Larkin, Mazzie Curnow, Robert Lang, Becky Frogson and Chopstar.
