Hello! A quick update! U:1 Artist Collective are currently working on a project for the Port Elliot Festival (see link before for more information on the festival).
U:1 will be hosting a puppet making workshop for children, as well as performing some puppetry in two exciting and well known tales.
Music and sound effects will be performed by Cornish folk duo 'Martin Jump and Will Manley'.

Think this is exciting? Keep your eyes peeled for a taster of whats to come!

Recent News, 'Party For Your Eyes' video and future plans

Hello there! It's been a while but I have a few things to tell and show you if you don't mind sparing U:1 a few minutes.

SHELTERBOX
First of all, we have had some news from Shelterbox (kind of good, but also not good). Last April's charity art auction (in which we raised £735) enabled us to buy one and a half shelterboxes to be distributed to whomever needed it in the world. Well our shelterboxes have been dispatched to Pakistan to help families who have lost their homes due to extreme flooding! Again, I would like to thank all who were involved and all who bought some art - you have done good!

PREPARATION FOR MAYFAIR FESTIVAL
In preparation for our workshop and décor involvement of this May's Mayfair Festival in St Germans  U:1 have been hosting weekly Cornish guising mask making workshops at the art centre at 6 o clock on Tuesdays and we hope these will continue (if we get enough interest - so please come along!) We are also welcome to suggestions for other workshops - or for anyone who would like to skill-share to come along and teach us a thing or two.
(any puppet making experts in particular).

CHARITY EXHIBITION AND AUCTION
We are at the start of organising an exhibition with the theme of 'Coast' and another charity auction (in association with Plymouth College of Art) so keep an eye out for ways to get involved. Further details to come.

TRANSITION PLYMOUTH
We are hoping to use the new 'Transition Plymouth' space to create an environmentally friendly window exhibition that you will be able to see as you whizz by on your errands. The exhibition is inspired by the people at Transition Plymouth and... U:1! You see, our previous exhibition 'Party For Your Eyes' was highly successful, but was all the way up in Bristol - so we would like to recreate it for the good people of Plymouth! Here is a video of our Bristol exhibition.

Nomadic Traces Culminating Show

Hello there!

If you ventured into Plymouth this October you might have caught a glimpse of some strange folk appearing around the city. Hot on the heels of the British Art Show, came the nomadic travellers of the U:1 Artist Collective. As if from the very pages of H.G Wells’ The Days of the Comet, these Edwardian travellers took to the street in a hope to inspire the spirit of the British Art show in the residents of Plymouth.

Spanning five events, the Nomads journeyed to the Jigsaw Garden, the Mayflower Steps, the Civic Centre, Bretonside bus station and Smeatons Tower and are now taking their final pit stop here at The Pipe.  Concealed within their luggage and displayed for you today are the Nomad’s artistic contraptions.  Alongside these pieces are the contributions of all those who participated in these events, creating origami, decorating butterflies and making chalk drawings and leaving their own trace.

The U:1 Artist Collective gladly welcomes you to view these works for the last time before their bags are finally packed away.
